8 things to remove from your resume

Share this post on:

OBJECTIVE STATEMENT:

An objective statement is often unnecessary and can take up valuable space on your resume. Instead, use that space to showcase your relevant qualifications and experience.

IRRELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:

Only include work experience that is relevant to the job you are applying for. If you have worked in a job that doesn’t directly relate to the position, you can either omit it or mention it briefly.

PERSONAL INFORMATION:

Unless specifically asked, avoid including personal information such as your age, marital status, or religion on your resume. This information is not relevant to your qualifications for the job.

HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION:

Unless you are a recent graduate or have limited work experience, it is usually not necessary to include your high school education on your resume.

REFERENCES:

Do not include the phrase “references available upon request” on your resume. This is assumed and taking up space on your resume.

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS:

While it may be tempting to showcase your unique hobbies and interests, it is generally not relevant information for your resume.

 OUTDATED TECHNOLOGY OR SOFTWARE:

If you have listed technology or software that is no longer widely used or in demand, consider removing it from your resume.

TYPOS AND GRAMMATICAL ERRORS:

Be sure to proofread your resume thoroughly before submitting it. Typos and grammatical errors can make a poor first impression and may suggest a lack of attention to detail.
